The Office of the Tax Ombud (OTO) is an entity established in October 2013 in terms of sections 14 and 15 of the Tax Administration Act 208 of 2011. Our mandate is to give taxpayers a free, impartial, fair, independent and expeditious channel for resolving their differences with SARS.

The Office works specifically with taxpayers who have been unable to resolve a service, procedural or administrative complaint through the normal complaints management channels of SARS.
